Helllloooooo yes Meme Detective is out for Otome Jam 2021!

I know I'm late in writing a devlog, do forgive me. These past few days have been hectic.

By right Meme Detective is supposed to be voiced, but the VAs and myself aren't able to make it in time, so I decided to release the unvoiced version for the jam. Although I was rushing the game, it is fully functional, contains 5 endings, 5 CGs and is around 20,000 words.

Those who have played The Punniest Pun Messter (TPPM) must have recognised some characters in the game, as well as obvious references from its predecessor. The story itself takes place 1 year after TPPM ends, and is centred around whatever crimes are present in it (no spoilers). 

Meme Detective also contains some references to future projects I'm working on with Tofu Sheets Visual, titled Love is Blind (?). It's expected to be released for SuNoFes, so keep an eye out for that too.

Also a note that Meme Detective was made in Unity, utilising the asset Naninovel. It's my first time using the asset, and the actual reason of making MD is because I want to test this new asset and engine out. Apparently builds from Unity load quite slow in comparison to Ren'Py's builds, so do be patient if the loading screen loads a bit too long. 

Anyway, ramblings aside, the voiced version of Meme Detective is estimated to be released on 15th July 2021- might be slower or longer depending on my level of exhaustion. The voice actors/actresses should be done with recording before 15th July, so I can cut, level and apply their lines by then. 

So to summarise, changes that may be made to Meme Detectives as of 15th July are:

• Completely voiced
• A few more CGs 
• Refining/elongating of endings (Although the endings are complete, I'm not very satisfied with them as of now)
• The reappearance of two characters from TPPM... I wonder who?
• Tweaking of GUI

No major changes will be made other than MD being completely voice-acted, and for that I extend my gratitude to all the voice actors and actresses involved in the project (Jerron Bacat, Nicolle Zambrano, Dane Braddy, Allen Chan and Gina Moravec), as well as Kokoro Hane (Tofu Sheets Visual) for guiding me in the path of voice-directing. 

So if you're patient, please wait for the voiced version of MD, or if you want to know the story of MD beforehand, download the unvoiced version by all means (story remains the same anyhow).
